Introit: Adagio from Voluntary in E minor

Welcome & Call to Worship
[Psalm 104]

Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord our God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty, wrapped in light as with a garment.
You stretch out the heavens like a tent; you make the winds your messengers.
You set the earth on its foundations, so that it shall never be shaken.
Let us worship the LORD!

O My Soul, Bless Your Redeemer (Hymn 223)
Psalm 103/Witt’s Psalmodia Sacra

O my soul, bless your Redeemer; all within me bless God’s name;
Bless the Savior, and forget not all God’s mercies to proclaim;

God forgives all your transgressions, all diseases gently heals;
God redeems you from destruction, and with you so kindly deals.

Far as east from west is distant, God has put away our sin;
Like the pity of a father has the Lord’s compassion been.

As it was without beginning, so it lasts without an end;
to their children’s children ever shall God’s righteousness extend:

Bless your Maker, all you creatures, ever under God’s control,
All throughout God’s vast dominion; bless the Lord of all, my soul!

Jesus who prays for us, we are weary from grief, uncertainty, and the various stresses of an ongoing pandemic. When we feel raw, on edge, or angry, forgive us for looking for someone to blame. You led with humility and carried others’ pain. When we feel blamed, alone, or unsupported, help us know the depths of your love. Thank you for your gentleness with us in trying times. Help us pay attention to your voice and be gentle with one another. Amen.

Song of Gratitude: Hear the Good News of Salvation (Hymn 355)
Native American (Dakota)/Wyeth’s Repository of Sacred Music

Hear the good news of salvation: Jesus died to show God’s love.
Such great kindness! Such great mercy! Come to us from heaven above.

Jesus Christ, how much I love you! Jesus Christ, you save from sin!
How I love you! Look upon me. Love me still and cleanse within.

All the sins I have committed to my Savior now I bring.
I bow down with tears of anguish; Christ forgives and so I sing: (Refrain)

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.

Children’s Message

The Church’s One Foundation (Hymn 442)

The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord;
She is his new creation by water and the word;
From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride;
With his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.

Elect from every nation, yet one o’er all the earth,
Her charter of salvation one Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses, with every grace endued.

Though with a scornful wonder this world sees her oppressed,
By schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed,
Yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up: “How long?”
And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.

Yet she on earth has union with God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won:
O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we,
Like them, the meek and lowly, may live eternally.

Obedience as Alignment, Attunement, Attention

Focus: Jesus learned obedience through what he suffered; and having been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
