1. FIX YOUR SUBJECT LINE
After sending about 10k cold emails, I realized that personalization has a 3-5% heightened response rate which is massive in email response math.
In your subject line use any personal item you can like the business name, the name of the person your emailing etc.
Another thing about subject lines that I’ve learned is creating a question, psychologically prompts the recipient to open it even more.
Do this by just saying, “Hey, (mike), are you able to catch up this week?”
or “Hi Debbie, did you have 5 minutes to chat?”
Thank me later but emails like this just become more compelling to the recipient and it’s not so cold of an email after all. giving you a better chance of an open and therefore a response.
2. YOUR EMAILS ARE WAY WAY TOO LONG
Not even the most bored person on earth is going to read your incredibly long email, the second someone sees how long they have to read, they immediately have a reaction and decide they’re not going to put the effort in.
Shorten it up. This is super easy, write up your email, leave it alone for an hour, come back, you’ll instantly see sentences that don’t need to be there, cut out about half of what you wrote, happens all the time.
All the mumbo jumbo in the middle won’t do anything for you but ruin your chances of getting a response.
3. STOP SELLING IN YOUR COLD EMAILS!
Look I get it, you want a signed contract with this client, but it’s not happening over a cold email. Too many of you, from what I’ve seen of your emails if you aren’t using my templates are selling endless features and benefits of your services.
Here’s the problem with this strategy – everyone does this , and no matter what you say in that email they don’t care, they just want to get the message and decide to respond or not.
IF and once they respond it’s game on- you can sell sell sell and offer up all of your features and benefits then!
4. FOLLOW UP!
I have probably mentioned this 100 times before but if you don’t follow up you’re just wasting your time sending the original email in the first place.
I want you to understand, psychologically that a non-response more than half the time doesn’t mean a NO. Once you get that into your head, you’ll really understand what I mean. so let’s say you send out 100 cold emails and in 1 week nobody responds, big deal!
Here’s where you hit them with the follow up, and this is way more simple, than you think. Basically use the same original email with a different intro!
