Conference with Tom Van de Weghe on the trending topic of #deepfakes in the framework of the World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 at neimënster.
Tom Van de Weghe is an investigative journalist, foreign correspondent and award winning documentary maker for Belgian national TV. He became renowned for his reports on the HIV crisis in the Henan region in China and the nuclear disaster of Fukushima, Japan. In recent years he worked with a team of journalists and researchers at Stanford University on deep fakes and artificial intelligence and how they both harm the media and can be used to support it. Van de Weghe will be talking about how AI, video forensics and questions on authentication impact today’s news rooms.
Ines Kurschat, journalist and General secretary of the Luxembourgish press council, will lead through the evening. The lecture will be held in English.
